Empowering Artisans: LAWANG’s Transformative Training Project in Kandahar
In a strategic initiative to uplift a remote province, LAWANG, successfully executed a pivotal training project in Kandahar. Despite the challenging circumstances of Afghanistan being under the poverty line, LAWANG forged ahead to support 104 women apprentices in their journey to acquire essential skills. Remarkably, this project addressed the urgent need for income generation, with over 80% of the total population in the region living without sufficient means. Much like our Kabul initiative, each women apprentice in Kandahar received a commendable monthly stipend of 12,000 AFN for three months (equivalent to 170 USD). This not only facilitated their skill development but also provided a reliable source of income to alleviate financial hardships. The impact of this project extended far beyond individual households, with 104 families benefiting from this program. LAWANG, in its commitment to social responsibility, proudly contributed to the economic sustainability of these families. In total, LAWANG played a pivotal role in contributing to the country’s economy, injecting a substantial sum of 4,992,000 AFN (equivalent to 71,400 USD) into the Kandahar community, furthering our mission to empower and uplift through skill development and economic support. We express our heartfelt gratitude to DAI-USAID for their unwavering support in making this transformative project a reality.
