Crafting Futures in Kabul: Empowering Artisans Through Skill Development
LAWANG proudly implemented an impactful project, offering training opportunities in embroidery, tailoring, and various tailoring sub-productions. This initiative provided essential skills to 210 individuals in Kabul, with a noteworthy 75.40% of participants being talented female artisans. Each participant, dedicated to their craft, received a monthly stipend of 12,000 AFN (170 $) for three months. The outcomes are remarkable. Not only did these female trainees acquire valuable skills, but they were also seamlessly integrated into the workforce, creating a source of income to support their families. A testament to LAWANG’s commitment to societal well-being, this initiative translated into employment and income-generating opportunities for 210 families, averaging 7.5 persons per family. In essence, LAWANG’s apprenticeship program has directly impacted and sustained the livelihoods of 1,575 individuals. Beyond individual impact, LAWANG also played a pivotal role in contributing to the country’s economy, injecting a substantial sum of 7,560,000 AFN (equivalent to 108,000 USD). This financial support further underscores LAWANG’s dedication to fostering economic growth and empowering communities. We extend our sincere gratitude to DAI-USAID for their invaluable support in making this program a reality.
